About Us

Russian Heritage Cultural Development Association – a non-profit organization founded in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in year 2006. The primary purpose of RHCDA is promotion of Russian culture through participation in the annual Heritage Festival.

For the first time in more than 30 years of the Edmonton Heritage Festival history the Russia pavilion welcomed it’s visitors. With the distinct food menu, authentic Russian traditional performances, exquisite Russian souvenirs and crafts, the Russia Pavilion became an inseparable part of the cultural diversity of the Festival. It would not be an exaggeration to say that the Edmonton Heritage Festival 2007-2009 was a complete success for OUR Community.

This success did not come easy and could not be thought of without the help of our Volunteers, people who have shown their true heart in aiding the Russian community to carry it’s national pride. Starting from the days of preparation to the Festival and up to it’s end we fully relied on the Volunteers. Kitchen assembly, pluming, electrical work, matreshka paintings, preparation of beautiful posters and decorations. This is only a portion of the work, which made OUR Pavilion to run and be ethnically distinct. And of course, the Russia Pavilion would not be able to operate without the help of dozens of people who volunteered during the 3 days of the Festival, cooking and selling Russian food, and providing historical and ethnic information to the visitors. Also, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the dance group of Valeria Dorokhova, which undoubtedly was a brilliant addition to the Russia Pavilion. In overall, over 100 people dedicated their valuable time to the Russia Pavilion during the Festival days.

A great work accomplished by many has not passed without one definite result – we believe that Russia will represent it’s culture at the Edmonton Heritage Festival for the years to come. Today, after a short brake, we are starting planning our next steps towards the Pavilion of 2010. Please keep an eye on the ongoing news.

Once again, we would like to thank all of you for your incredible help and support, and we hope to see you in Russian Pavilion.
